Changes in Climate caused by Natural Factors

Why do climates change? Possible explanations for major climate changes include movement of the continents, variations in the position of Earth relative to the sun, major volcanic eruptions, and changes in the sun's energy output.

Volcanic Activity:

Examples of Volcanic Activity can be of the Mount Tambora in Indonesia in 1815 blasted abou100 cubic kilometers of ash into the atmosphere. Climates worldwide were dramatically colder the next few years.

Ice Ages:

An Ice Age is a period of glacial advance. During ice age, huge sheets of ice called continental glaciers covered large parts of Earth's surface.
Every ice age happens every 100,000 years. The last ice age ended only about 10,000 years ago.

My Opinion:

My opinion of this is that we don't know what things can change the climate but we have to be prepared, because if a volcano erupt it will probably the earth will be colder some years and that can affect things like agriculture and people.

Changes in Climate

  • The Earth’s average surface temperature has increased by about 1.8°F (1.0°C) since the late 1800s.
  • Human-caused emissions are responsible for observed warming.
  • Growing concentration of greenhouse gases from human activities is making this blanket thicker, and warming the planet.
